You'll love racing out of Broad Creek Marina with the Pamlico Sailing Club, one of the oldest organized clubs in the state.  J-22s and 24s, several Lindenburg 26s, and an array of other vessels rating down to below 100 PHRF race around the bouys in the spring and fall and the summer is chocked full of cup racing.  There is plenty of competition for the avid racer but even "mom and pop" can take the ol' family cruiser out and not feel intimidated.  We even have a pick-up group race Sunfish "around the bouys" in the creek in the doldrums of summer on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.  The sailors almost always have a get together planned after a hard day of racing to share some food and beverage..... and maybe tell a few tales.
